Conroe ISD makes statement regarding SB 10 and SB 11 Investigation

CONROE, TEXAS – May 7, 2026 – Conroe ISD is fully compliant with Senate Bill 10 and Senate Bill 11. Senate Bill 10, passed by the Texas Legislature in 2025, requires Texas public school classrooms to display a state-approved version of the Ten Commandments in a visible location within each classroom. As required by law, Conroe ISD displayed compliant posters by the September 1, 2025 deadline. Following the district’s inclusion in the Cribbs-Ringer v. Comal Independent School District litigation and the related injunction, Conroe ISD promptly removed the posters in compliance with the court order. More recently, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld SB 10 in Rabbi Nathan v. Alamo Heights Independent School District. However, because Conroe ISD remains subject to separate, still-pending litigation, the Office of the Attorney General of Texas recently provided Conroe ISD with explicit written guidance not to display the SB 10 posters at this time.
