Mexican retailer Parisina recently opened its first Houston area store in a former Joann Fabrics location, and it’s good news for those longing the loss of their favorite fabric store. The store located at 25415 Interstate 45 N, Spring, TX 77380 closed as Joann about a year ago, and Parisina opened earlier this week. While not a well known name in the US, Parisina is the largest fabric retailer in Mexico with over 600 locations. The stores carry a similar assortment to Joann, mainly comprised of fabric cut to order, sewing accessories, and other crafty items. So far Parisina has two locations in the United States. The aforementioned Spring location is the newest, the other location in McAllen, TX opened at the end of 2025. So far, Parisina has received a relatively warm reception from shoppers. Although according to online reviews there are still some kinks to work out in regards to pricing and labeling items. While Parisina has yet to announce further locations, the company has indicated it does plan to continue expanding in the U.S. if conditions are right.
