(L-R):(Commissioner Ginger Morris, Recreation Director Kendall Bennamon, Commissioner Leland Adams and Commissioner Chad Kenney.) The Montgomery County Recreation Department has been awarded a $2,380 dollar grant through the GRPA/Atlanta Hawks Partnership. GRPA in partnership with the Atlanta Hawks and the Hawks Foundation awarded 45 agencies across the State of Georgia over $100,000 to help serve communities through Youth Basketball Leagues, Camps, Clinics, Basketball Tournaments, Youth Fitness Programs, Virtual Classes, Esports/Gaming Programs, Special Needs, and Adaptive Sports. The Hawks are committed to helping grow the game of basketball and encourage healthy activity at the grass roots level and want to provide the additional assistance to do so. Director Bennamon plans to use the grant to help purchase new score boards at the Recreation Department gym located on MLK Drive in Mount Vernon. The new score boards will cost $7,500.00. Efforts will made to raise additional funds to purchase and install new score boards.
