WILLIS POWERBOAT RACER KILLED IN WEEKEND CRASH

WILLIS POWERBOAT RACER KILLED IN WEEKEND CRASH

Tracy Hawkins,60, a well-known powerboat racer from Willis was killed last weekend at Champions Lake Park in Clark County, Springfield, Ohio. Two other competitors suffered minor injuries. The incident happened on the last race late Sunday afternoon when two boats collided and then a third boat was struck according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. The race had just started and the had taken off from the starting line when it is believed Hawkins; F! tunnel boat collided and hit the third boat. Dana Potts, president of B2B Motorsports, which helped promote the race said. According to a statement on the American Power Boat Association (APBA) Facebook page, “The other competitors involved in the incident, Fred Durr and Dylan Anderson, are doing well and have only sustained minor bruises.” None of the close to 8,000 spectators at Wake the Lake event were injured as a result of the incident. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating.
