In just their second year of existence, Tomball Mariachi has qualified for State competition after advancing from the area round on Jan. 28, which was held at Tomball High. “I feel very proud of them,” Miguel Aguirre, Mariachi director, said. “These kids put in a lot of hard work. There are very few programs that, after only existing for a year and a half, have gotten this many opportunities. Directors strive to hopefully get a Division 2 at an area contest. But you know, being that these kids work so hard and being the director that I am, we reached and we worked hard to get that Division One. And so we’re going to work even harder for that Division 1 at state.”
