WALLER, Texas – A stolen vehicle pursuit involving multiple counties ended safely on Saturday night, according to the Waller Police Department. Officers were alerted to a stolen Chevrolet Cruze entering the city limits at approximately 9:14 p.m. on January 31, 2026, through License Plate Reader technology. The vehicle had been reported stolen from Fort Bend County. Officers Negron and Ochoa located the vehicle on FM 362 near US 290. When they attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to comply, leading to a pursuit that extended into Montgomery and Harris counties. The chase covered approximately 38.5 miles before the driver attempted an evasive maneuver at an intersection, struck a curb, sideswiped a vehicle stopped at a traffic light, and was subsequently hit by another vehicle while proceeding through a red light. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the driver was taken into custody without further incident. The driver was identified as Joseph Shane Horn, of Cleveland, Texas, who was wanted by the Texas Department of Pardons and Parole for a parole violation related to prior convictions for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. Additional charges of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle were filed.
