Montgomery County deputies recover stolen excavator and arrest two suspects

CLEVELAND, Texas – Deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office successfully recovered a stolen excavator on February 2, 2026, following a coordinated response in the Cleveland area. The investigation began when deputies responded to a report of a stolen Caterpillar 303 excavator from a construction site near Faulkner Road, according to a press release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. The machinery was located at an abandoned property near Old Highway 105 East. Upon arrival, deputies observed the stolen excavator along with several other vehicles and trailers. Three individuals fled the scene on foot into the surrounding woods. With assistance from Montgomery County Constable Deputies from Precinct 3 and Precinct 4, a perimeter was established. MCSO K-9 units arrived and located two of the suspects, who were taken into custody. In addition to the Caterpillar excavator, investigators with the Auto Theft Task Force recovered a stolen 2005 Chevrolet C1500 at the same location. The arrested suspects have been identified as 31-year-old Taylor Coursey, charged with Felony Theft, and 22-year-old Presley Snow, charged with Felony Theft and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
