SHSU-COM Student’s Careful Work in Conroe Leads to Rare Diagnosis During First Clinical Rotation

Caroline Podvin, a third-year medical student at Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (SHSU-COM), began her first clinical rotation in internal medicine after two years of preclinical training in Conroe, Texas. She started working in clinics and hospitals across the state, supervised by experienced physicians called preceptors. Although she felt nervous at first, she used the examination and communication skills learned during her early education.
