MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — This week’s Veteran is Joe Tessari, who served in the U.S. Marine from 1985-1992. Tessari served as an Infantry Rifleman, following his basic training in Parris Island, South Carolina. Joe served in the Philippines at Subic Bay Naval Base in 1986-1987. He was then transferred to Camp Pendleton near San Diego, California, where he was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines, known as the Striking 3/9. Tessari was still with the 3/9 when he was deployed to Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Desert Shield and Storm to counter Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait. Following his service, Tessari was a Sheriff’s Deputy and Mayor of Eastvale, California before moving to Texas five years ago.
